Arlington National...

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell...

Knitting, knitting, knitting...

Just finished these multi-colored deliberately un-matching mittens for Hilary K. and I started a jacket in pretty white thread for myself.  Now that is unusual.  Making something for me is at the bottom of de-stashing my yarns.  *lol*  Ooops...I'm crocheting the jacket.  Need to alternate to keep my hands from locking up.

Never alone...

Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries
of the earth are never alone or weary of life.

"with simple tenderness,"...

...for Beth

It’s true, what all our
heroes say. There is a way
in this world for beauty,
for good. It may
be a crooked path
in a tanglewood, but
stay the course and,
when the way grows rocky,
walk your horse,

and who knows, you may yet
come upon the wild rose,
as I have done, and,
paying close attention,
keep from crushing her into
the grime, and then,
with any luck, in time
remember how you found her
and how to find her again
when the way gets wilder.

"To a Wild Rose" by Todd Boss, from Yellowrocket: Poems (W. W. Norton & Company, 2010). Text as presented in various online sources.

Don't give up...

Don't give up, you still have time
to reach up and start anew,
Accept your shadows,
Bury your fears,
Free your burdens,
Fly again.

Don't give up, that's what life is
Continue the journey,
Follow your dreams,
Unstuck time,
Move the rubble,
And uncover the sky.

Don't give up, please don't give way,
Even if the cold burns,
Even if fear bites,
Even if the sun sets,
And the wind goes silent,
There is still fire in your soul
There is still life in your dreams.

Because life is yours and yours is the desire
Because you have loved it and because I love you
Because wine exists and love is true.
Because there are no wounds that time doesn't cure.

To open the doors,
Take away the locks,
Abandon the walls that have protected you,
To live life and accept the challenge
Get back laughter,
Practice a song,
Lower the guard and extend the hands
Open the wings
And try again,
Celebrate life and take back the skies.

Don't give up, please don't give way,
Even if the cold burns,
Even if fear bites,
Even if the sun sets,
And the wind goes silent,
There is still fire in your soul
There is still life in your dreams.

Because every day is a new beginning,
Because this is the hour and the best moment.
Because you are not alone, because I love you.

An Irish artist has opened his heart about why it was so important to him to honour the Choctaw Indians.
The Choctaws demonstrated great kindness to the Irish people during their darkest period – the Great Famine.
The Native American tribe were not a wealthy people, and had suffered tragedy themselves, but they raised $710 for the Irish Famine relief. That is the equivalent of €68,500 today...

How to make a tufted titmouse nest...

Bring your family of titmice to a cute chick relaxing in a lawn chair watching the birdfeeders.  Sneak up behind her and test her hair.  mmmmmm.... soft, long, nice color, smells good, seems to be willing to weave easily.  Let's go for it gang!  Sure hope she visits more often.  Need some power to yank it out though.  Maybe upside down will do it.  Who are those people giggling at us?

Smile today...

"You must learn to forgive yourself as easily as you forgive others. And then take a further step and use all that energy that you used in condemning yourself for improving yourself. After that I really started to get somewhere - because there's only one person you can change and that's yourself. After you have changed yourself, you might be able to inspire others to look for change.  ~Peace Pilgrim~

"Now, please do as she asks. Please forgive yourself completely. And smile today at someone you don't know, yet. Make it a big smile, brighten their day.
Om Shanti. May all know Peace."   ~Swami Sankarananda~

Remember...

God, I am often so sloppy or lazy at my prayers, or, even worse, my prayers are lovely and pure and the
next sixteen and a half hours are a mess.

I do not pray to become holy,
but simply this: to remember.
To be mindful of your goodness,
to remember that you are here,
to be present in the moment you grant me,
to look around me, to listen...
to remember. Amen.

Smile...

"Smile with the flower and the green grass.
Play with the butterflies, birds and deer.
Shake hands with the shrubs, ferns and twigs of trees.
Talk to the rainbow, wind, stars and the sun.
Converse with the running brooks and the waves of the sea.
Speak with the walking stick.
Develop friendship with your neighbours, dogs, cats,
cows, human beings, trees, flowers, etc.
Then you will have a wide, perfect, rich, full life.
You will realise oneness or unity of life.
This can hardly be described in words.
You will have to feel (this) yourself."

Lenten poem...

O God, who makes all things new,

new stars, new dust, new life;

take my heart,

every hardened edge and measured beat,

and create something new in me.

I need your newness, God,

the rough parts of me made smooth;

the stagnant, stirred;

the stuck, freed;

the unkind, forgiven.

And then, by the power of your Spirit,

I need to be turned toward Love again. Amen.

Susan Seddon-Boulet, artist...

She drew her inspiration from a wide variety of sources: mythology and poetry, Jungian psychology and worldwide spiritual traditions, as well as a deep love of animal and the natural world. There is a fairy tale quality to her work, a sentimental reacalling of childhood dreams of fairies and castles and magic. Her art exerted and continues to exert a profound influence on the lives that it touches.

Today Susan Seddon-Boulet is considered one of the founders of the visionary art movement in the United States. Her paintings are widely held in collections around the world. Published works include "Shaman: The Paintings of Susan Seddon Boulet", "Susan Seddon-Boulet: The Goddess Paintings", "The Power of the Bear" and a most magnificent overview of the artists' life and art "Susan Seddon-Boulet: A Retrospective" .
Anais Nin wrote:
"These figures are out of our dreams, those which flee from us upon awakening, those which are dispersed like dew at dawn, those which fall apart between our fingers like dust-roses.
Susan has a more muted step, or perhaps she is invisible...more soft-voiced, soft-gestured, as the images do not escape from her. She can return from her voyages with intact descriptions...from places never visited by us but which we remember."

For the dreamers...

An entire world of possibilities
open to those that try.
A universe of accomplishments
there for the dreamers.
For those who attempt to reach their dreams,
there comes the sat isfaction of the endeavor.
Never give up hope,
never lose your dreams.
In time you will succeed.

Losing...?

Am I losing if I continue to feel the indifference he gave to me?

Winning...?

He's winning if I don't hate him.
